Volvo Auto India, the Indian arm of the Swedish luxury automobile manufacturer Volvo has plans to inaugurate 4 new showrooms across India in May 2014. The new showrooms will be opened in the cities Delhi, Chandigarh, Surat and Kolkata.
Commenting about Volvo’s plans for the new showrooms, Mr. Tomas Ernberg Managing Director Volvo Auto India stated that the carmaker plans to expand its market share in India with the new retail outlets.
The new showrooms are expected to boost the premium carmaker’s presence in India and help improve its sales in India. The sales of the carmaker stood at 913 units in the year 2013.
The automaker is also planning to establish local assembly units in India with the aim of pricing its car products more attractively for its customers. Currently, the carmaker imports its products in India as completely built units, thus attracting a higher import duty.
