Volkswagen India plans to sell its iconic brand Beetle to strengthen presence in the country.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Makham Dhalivaal, MD of VW Passenger Cars India said that the Beetle is an iconic brand and the profile of the customer the world over for this car is upwardly mobile and well travelled and those who wants to be different and that the company sees a segment of those customers in India. The Beetle could be used as a part of the brand building exercise that Volkswagen plans to undertake in India. The time of launch was undecided but it could come to India in medium term.
Volkswagen currently sells the sedan Passat and newly launched Jetta along with SUV Toureg. They plan to bring in Phaeton, Polo and a small car to India in the future.
