Toyota India posts sales decline of 6 percent in August 2013

Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the joint venture between the Japanese automaker Toyota and the Indian Kirloskar Group has posted a decline of 6 percent in its sales for the month of August 2013. The carmaker’s total sales for the month stood at 15,201 units in comparison to 16,225 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The Japanese carmaker exported a total of 3,194 units of the Etios series in the month of August 2013. The automaker sold 12,007 units as domestic sales in the month compared with 13,995 units in August 2012.

The recent devaluation of the Indian Rupee and the inflation has affected the sales of the company as well as the input costs due to which the prices of the Camry Petrol model and the Fortuner SUV model have been raised by 1 percent.
