Maruti Suzuki increases car dispatches to dealerships

Maruti Suzuki India has increased the supply of its popular car models to its dealerships across India in anticipation of the increase in demand for cars in the festival season. The carmaker expects the sales to pick up in the Western car market and has thus increased the dispatches of the Swift hatchback and the Ritz hatchback to the dealers.

The month of August 2013 has however witnessed a decline in the sales of the small car segment even with the onset of the festival season. According to Mr. R C Bhargava Chairman Maruti Suzuki India, the worst of the slowdown is over in the Indian car market and that the sales are expected to grow. He added that the carmaker also expects growth in the rural markets referring to the good monsoon in the year 2013.

The rural auto market accounts for about 30 percent of the automaker’s total sales, stated Mr. Bhargava. Maruti Suzuki has been increasing its focus on the rural markets in order to boost sales and make up for the slowdown in the urban areas.
