Tata Motors reports a 4 percent increase in total car sales in May 2012

Tata Motors has posted a 4 percent growth in its sales for the month of May 2012 selling 64,347 vehicles in comparison to 62,296 vehicles sold in the same period in 2011. The domestic sales of the company grew by 6 percent from 56,571 units sold in May 2011 to 60,128 units sold in May 2012.

The company’s Nano small car sold 8,507 units in the month in comparison to 6,515 units in May 2011, a growth of 31 percent. The sales of the Indica range by the company fell 1 percent from 5,497 units in May 2011 to 5,467 units sold in May 2012. Similarly, the Indigo range fell by 20 percent in May 2012 against the sales figures in May 2011.

The exports of the company declined by 24 percent from 5,534 vehicles in May 2011 to 4,219 vehicles sold in May 2012.
