The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile major, Nissan Motor India has registered sales of 3,138 units in the month of May 2012, nearly double the unit sales in the same month in 2011. The increase in sales is being attributed to the sale of the Micra hatchback and the Sunny sedan.
According to Mr. Ishida Takayuki MD Nissan Motor India, the company has been able to gather strong sales despite fuel price hike and high interest rates and expect further growth with the launch of the utility vehicle Evalia in the later part of 2012.
The company has also announced the revival of its Datsun brand which will be manufactured locally in India and introduced by the year 2014. It is a part of the company’s expansion plans and growth strategy for the emerging auto markets.
