Tata Motors to focus on regaining its position among top Indian carmakers

Indian car manufacturer Tata Motors is in the process of gearing up to reclaim its position among the top car manufacturers in India. The carmaker also plans to revitalize its strategy for the international auto markets.

The automaker plans to incorporate and harness capabilities sourced from its global research centers to develop and launch new car models as part of a product launch program till 2020 which will also include hybrids, electric vehicles and automobiles with alternate fuel technologies.

The carmaker plans to streamline its processes with special focus on design, quality and more efficient product development. Moreover, improvements in sales and after sales services to customers will also be a key area where the automaker will be directing its efforts.

According to Mr. Ranjit Yadav President – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit Tata Motors, the automaker will be focusing on strengthening its foundations rather than playing the volume game. He added that the recent low performance of the carmaker has helped it revaluate its targets and objectives.

The automaker has also implemented a initiative, namely the New Product Introduction (NPI) initiative that will enable it to improve its existing products by the end of the year 2014.
