Suzuki to use Fiat engines for its car to be made in Hungary

Suzuki Motor Corp announced on June 27, 2011, that it will be building a new car in Hungary starting in 2013 which will be fitted with a 1.6 litre diesel engine that it will buy from Fiat’s Powertain unit.

Suzuki currently buys 2.0 litre diesel engines from Fiat Powertrain Technologies for the SX4 which is made in Hungary. Suzuki also produces 1.3 litre diesel engines in India under license from Fiat Technologies. For Suzuki’s future SX4 platform, the 2.0 litre Fiat Powertrain engine would be replaced by 1.6 litre MultiJet II engine as stated by Fiat in an interview recently.
