Nissan India to use new assembly line for exports

Nissan India has announced that the new production line at its Oragadam plant will be used to ramp up exports in order to offset the low sales in the domestic market in India. The second line at the manufacturing plant will commence production from August 2012 and will have an annual capacity of producing 2,00,000 vehicles.

However, the company continues to focus on domestic sales on priority and is engaged in expanding its dealer network in India from 51 to 100 by the year 2013. Nissan India is targeting the sales figure of 1,00,000 vehicles in India by 2013-14.

Nissan had a target of 40,000 car sales for the fiscal year 2011-12 and states that the sales are on track for the target.
