Honda Cars India records 72 percent jump in August 2013 sales

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Honda has posted an increment of 72 percent in its sales for the month of August 2013. The significant growth for the month is attributed to the launch of the Amaze sedan, the carmaker’s first car model in India with a diesel engine option.

The Honda Amaze sedan accounted for 6,242 units out of 9,469 units in the month of August 2013, nearly two-thirds of the total sales. The new sedan launched in April 2013 has helped the carmaker grow by 65 percent in the April-July 2013 period in comparison to the same period in 2012.

Other major contributors to the total sales of the carmaker include the Brio hatchback with 1,508 units and the City sedan with 953 units. The exports of the carmaker stood at 556 units for the month of August 2013.

The Amaze sedan has sold a total of 30,000 units since its launch in April 2012 and is claimed to be the fastest selling car to reach this milestone figure. The carmaker has also announced that it will be ramping up the production of the sedan car model at its Greater Noida facility in order to decreasing the waiting period from 4-5 months to 2-3 months.
