The launch of Honda’s new Civic compact hatchback will be delayed in Europe because the carmaker is facing a shortage of parts due to the floods in Thailand.
Honda’s Europe Manager for corporate affairs, Mr. John Kingston told the Automotive News Europe that the company was very closely monitoring the supply chain situation but suspected the launch of the new Civic will be delayed by three to four weeks. The Civic traditionally has been Honda’s best-selling model.
The new Civic is being manufactured at Honda’s factory in Southern England and the company had announced earlier this week that it will reduce the production at Swindon as some suppliers in Asia were not able to keep up with part production owing to the floods which had disrupted the supply of the parts.
The company is currently revising its plan and will roll-out the Civic in UK and Germany by the end of February 2011 instead of January 2011.
