Hyundai India to ramp up Xcent production to reduce waiting period

Hyundai India, the largest exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India has announced it’s plans to ramp up the production of the Xcent compact sedan in order to meet the demand and reduce the waiting period on the car model.

The new Xcent compact sedan which is based on the i10 Grand hatchback received 16,000 bookings within six weeks after its launch in March 2014. According to Mr. Rakesh Srivastava Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales) Hyundai India, the carmaker sold a total of 6,700 units of the Xcent car model in the month of April 2014.

Mr. Srivastava commented that the compact sedan segment is the fastest growing segment in the Indian automobile industry with a monthly growth rate of more than 27 percent and the automaker expects to cash in on this growing demand by increasing the production of the car model.

The automaker also has plans to export the new compact sedan to its global markets and is already in the process of identifying the export markets for the car model.
