Hyundai India, the largest car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India has introduced a new variant of the Verna mid-size sedan for the Indian car market, namely the Verna GL.
The new trim is available in both petrol as well as diesel version and is a replacement for the former base trim of the Verna. While the petrol version of the new GL variant has been priced at Rs 7,17,000, the diesel version has a price tag of Rs 8,35,000.
The GL petrol variant is powered by a 1.4 liter VTVT engine which offers 105 bhp of power and 138 Nm of torque and is mated to a five speed manual transmission. The diesel variant is equipped with a 1.4 liter CRDi unit offering 89 bhp of power and 224 Nm of torque and is mated to a six speed manual transmission.
The carmaker expects the new variant launch to boost sales and help it regain market share. The Korean automaker witnessed a decline of 14.9 percent in the month of February 2014.
