Honda India halts production of Jazz hatchback

Honda India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has put the production and selling of the Jazz premium hatchback on hold. The production will resume when the new version of the Jazz will be introduced in the Indian auto market early in the year 2014. Consequently, the company has also stopped accepting bookings for the hatchback.

The carmaker also expects the upcoming entry level sedan Amaze to be a volume generator in terms of sales, also a reason for stopping the production of the Jazz. The Amaze is likely to be launched in April 2013.

According to a company official, the production mix of the carmaker at its manufacturing facility in Greater Noida is witnessing changes due to the new launches lined up in 2013. He added that the automaker wants to stay flexible for making required changes in production in accordance with the changes in demand.
