Honda Cars India sales grow 88 percent in August 2014

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has posted a growth of 88 percent in its sales for the month of August 2014. The carmaker sold a total of 16,758 vehicles in the month in comparison to 8,913 units sold in the same month in 2013.

The growth in sales has been attributed to the launch of the new Amaze sedan and the newly launched Mobilio multi-purpose vehicle. The automaker has registered a growth of 49 percent in its sales for the period April–August 2014.

During the month of August 2014, the carmaker also exported a total of 460 units.

Commenting about the sales performance, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen Sr. Vice President (Marketing & Sales) Honda Cars India stated that the festive season is likely to further boost the sales figures.

The carmaker plans to resume the production of the Honda City sedan in the first week of September 2014 at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
