Hyundai India registers 19.2 percent domestic sales growth in August 2014

Hyundai Motor India, the largest car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India has registered a domestic sales growth of 19.2 percent in the month of August 2014. The carmaker witnessed a decline of 40.2 percent its exports, thus a decline in total sales of 8 percent.

The domestic sales of the carmaker stood at 33,750 units while the exports of the company totaled to 14,361 units in the month of August 2014. Mr. Rakesh Srivastava Senior VP (Sales and Marketing) Hyundai Motor India stated that the domestic growth is powered by the new car launches such as the Elite i20 hatchback, the Xcent compact sedan and the Grand i10 hatchback.

Exports of the company have declined as the carmaker has been focusing on the domestic sales with the new launches.

The festive season is also likely to increase the sales in the coming months, Mr. Srivastava added.
