Ford India total sales grow by 27.35 percent in August 2014

Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer Ford has posted a growth of 27.35 percent in its total sales for the month of August 2014. The carmaker sold a total of 14,092 units in the month as compared to 11,065 units sold in same month in August 2013.

The domestic sales of the carmaker declined by 15 percent in the month and the sales growth was powered by the exports which jumped 136.5 percent in the month to 7,291 units in August 2014.

Mr. Vinay Piparsania Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Ford India commented that the company expects a continued revival in customer sentiments as the festive season draws closer. The carmaker is prepared to meet the high demand for its cars in the season.

The carmaker also achieved the sales milestone of 1,00,000 cars for the compact SUV EcoSport in the month of August 2014, combining the domestic and export sales figures.

The carmaker is also planning to set up a third shift at its Chennai plant in order to reduce the waiting period for the Ecosport model before the festive season.
