Honda Cars India records over two-and-a-half-fold growth in July 2013

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker Honda has posted a growth of more than two-and-a-half-fold in its sales in the Indian car market. The automaker sold 11,223 units for July 2013 in the Indian market in comparison to 4,386 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The highest sales among Honda’s car models were achieved by the new Honda Amaze mid-size sedan which sold a total of 6,515 units in July 2013. The Brio small car sold 2,602 units while the City sedan sold 1,953 units in the month. The CR-V SUV by the Japanese carmaker sold 133 units in July 2013. The company’s exports totaled 756 units in the month of July 2013.

Mr. Jnaneswar Sen Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Honda Cars India commented that the new Amaze sedan has clocked its highest monthly sales in July 2013 and has sold more than 24,000 units since its launch.

The company plans to increase the production of the Amaze sedan starting in November 2013 in order to address the demand and reduce its waiting period.
