Nissan Motor India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has posted a threefold increase in its sales for the month of April 2012. The company sold 3,467 units in the month in comparison to 1,201 units sold in April 2011.
The major contributor to the growth was the sales of the Sunny sedan with 2,012 units. The sedan which was launched in September 2011 has sold a total of 16,173 units since. The Sunny sedan was followed by the Micra premium hatchback in terms of sales which sold 1,435 units in the month, a growth of 19 percent over the sales in the same period in 2011.
The SUV X-Trail, the Teana premium sedan and the sports car 370Z accounted for the rest 20 units of the sales.
