Why Driving with Women Could Drive you Mad – According to CarHireMarket

CarHireMarket If you want a relaxing, entertaining and trouble-free car journey, then it’s probably best not to travel with a female companion! According to new research from car hire comparison site carhiremarket.com, women are more than twice as likely as men to get car sick (14% vs. 5%) and are more liable to fall asleep if they are passengers (26% vs. 19%). Almost double the amount of women to men also admit to being a back seat driver (13% vs. 7%).

However, the research did reveal one upside to driving with women; almost one in four adult females (23%) say they ensure travel sweets are packed for the car journey, compared to only 15% of men.

Just like the ladies, those from the South West of Britain are the most tired and sickly on car journeys so you could have a rather quiet or stop-start journey with a passenger from Somerset, Devon or Cornwall!

And if you’d rather avoid having to deal with passengers telling you how to drive then it may be best not to travel with a Scot, as more people living in Scotland admitted to being a back seat driver than any other region in Britain.

If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, the Welsh are likely to ply you with travel goodies, but those from the West Midlands seem more interested in comfort; cushions for a comfy nap are much more likely to be found on the parcel shelf of their vehicles.

Andrew Shorrock, Product Manager at online car hire comparison website carhiremarket.com, comments: “It’s interesting to note the differing idiosyncrasies between both men and women and also different UK regions when it comes to car travel. Whether driving your own vehicle in the UK, or hiring a car abroad, your journey could be very different depending on your choice of passenger!”
