GM to introduce five new vehicles in next six months

As a part of its expansion plans in India, General Motors which entered into an equal partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industries Corporation (SAIC) will launch 5 new vehicles, including a light commercial vehicle in the next 6 months.

The first launch is scheduled for January 2012, followed by the rest in quick succession. Mr. Karl Slym, President and Managing Director of GM India stated, “By combining the outstanding resources of GM with those of our partners in China, we can respond faster to the evolving domestic market than ever before.” Mr. Slym expressed confidence that the company would be able to emerge as a volume player in India in the shortest time, backed by these launches.

43% of the company sales accrue from Brazil, Russia and India and China.
