Volvo India, the Indian arm of the Swedish carmaker Volvo is planning to expand its car portfolio to a total of 9 cars by the year 2020. The luxury automaker will launch 4 new car models in the Indian car market to help it achieve a share of 15 percent in the Indian luxury car market by 2020.
Mr. Tomas Ernberg Managing Director Volvo Auto India stated that new car models will be launched in both existing as well as new segments with the aim of catering to more than 90 percent of the luxury car segments in India.
Mr. Ernberg added that Volvo has a market share of more than 15 percent in the luxury segment in foreign markets such as Japan and Europe. Achieving the same in India would be an uphill task, but not an impossible one, he stated.
