Indian automobile major Tata Motors has launched upgraded versions of car models across its passenger car portfolio in India. The carmaker expects to offset decline in its sales and raise customer buying sentiments in the Indian car market.
The revamped car models by the automaker include the Indica hatchback, the Indigo CS compact sedan and the Nano range of cars as well as the Sumo MUV and the Safari Storm SUV. The new Indica range of cars has an entry level price of Rs 3,99,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Indigo eCS range is priced at Rs 4,99,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) while the Sumo Gold is priced at Rs 5,83,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Nano small car has been priced at Rs 1,50,000.
Commenting on the launch of the new car variants, Mr. Karl Slym Managing Director Tata Motors stated that more new model launches in the high volume segments of the car market will follow till year 2020.
The carmaker used to hold the third position in the Indian passenger car market after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai India, until the end of fiscal 2013 when it was overtaken by the SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra.
