Volkswagen India sales decline by 19.05 percent in March 2013

Volkswagen India, the Indian arm of the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has witnessed a decline in passenger car sales of 19.05 percent for the month of March 2013. The carmaker sold a total of 6,800 units in the month in comparison to 8,400 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The sales of the automaker have been falling consistently in the year 2013 with a 19.9 percent sales decline in the month of January 2013 and 16.13 percent decline in February 2013. The total sales for the January and February 2013 fell by 18 percent, selling 9,800 units in comparison to 12,000 units sold in the same period in 2012.

The Volkswagen Group in India has also seen a change in top management in the month of March 2013 with Mr. Gerasimos Dorizas replacing Mr. John Chacko for the position of Managing Director of Volkswagen Group India. Also, Mr. Mahesh Kodumudi was appointed in the same month as President and MD of Volkswagen India who has taken office at the company plant at Pune.
