Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is planning to launch 2 new utility vehicles as well as diesel variants for its existing car models in the Indian car market.
With the launch of the new Amaze sedan based on the Brio platform and other upcoming launches with diesel engine options, the carmaker expects to enter the volume selling auto segments in India. The automaker is developing a multi-utility vehicle based on the Brio platform is likely to launch it by the end of 2014.
Also planned by the Japanese carmaker is a compact SUV model based on the Jazz platform which may be launched in the year 2015.
Mr. Hironori Kanayama MD Honda Cars India states that the Amaze sedan is the beginning of a counter attack strategy for the Indian car market. He added that the carmaker is gearing up to revamp its Indian car portfolio across all segments including small cars and utility vehicles whether small or premium.
The car manufacturer is already developing the next generation of the Jazz premium hatchback and the City sedan models with diesel options for a launch in the year 2014.
