Volkswagen India ropes in Hyundai Marketing and Sales head

German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen’s Indian arm has roped in Mr. Arvind Saxena, currently Marketing Head of Hyundai India, for the position of Director and Member of the Board (Passenger Cars Division). Mr. Saxena will be replacing Mr. Neeraj Garg who has apparently quit the company at a time when it is witnessing significantly low sales.

According to a company executive at Hyundai India office, Mr. Saxena has already put in his papers. His responsibilities at Hyundai India will be handled by Mr. Rakesh Srivastava Vice-President (National Sales) until the company appoints a new Marketing Head. Mr. Saxena has about 29 years of experience in the Indian automobile industry. He joined Hyundai India in 2005 and was previously working with Maruti Suzuki India.

Volkswagen India’s sales have been faltering witnessing a 16.3 percent decline in the April-June 2012 quarter. Other car brands under the Volkswagen Group such as Audi India and Skoda India have in contrast posted growth in sales in the first financial quarter of 2012.
