Volkswagen India rolls out 4,00,000th car from Pune facility

Volkswagen India, the Indian arm of the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has announced that it has rolled out the 4,00,000th car in India from its manufacturing facility in Pune. The car is a Polo Highline variant equipped with the new 1.5-litre TDI engine.

The carmaker’s Pune facility has been operating since March 2009 and more than 4,00,000 cars have now been produced at this plant for domestic as well as export operations of the carmaker. The plant currently produces the Polo hatchback, the Vento sedan and the Skoda Rapid premium sedan.

Mr. Mahesh Kodumudi President & Managing Director Volkswagen India stated that the carmaker plans to maintain focus on productivity and increase focus on localization to meet the market demands in India.
