Volkswagen India to focus on car sales and service

Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has decided to focus on improving its sales and service network for its Indian car portfolio with lower importance to expansion of market share in India till the year 2015.

The largest carmaker in Europe has witnessed a drop of 20 percent in sales in the April to October 2012 period for the fiscal 2012-13. Earlier in 2012, the carmaker roped in Mr. Arvind Saxena Director (Marketing and Sales) at Hyundai Motor India as its new Managing Director to improve its sales and service network.

According to industry experts, the carmaker has been busy establishing its brand in India but has paid less than due attention to the service and back-end systems for large volumes. Commenting on the matter, Mr. Saxena stated that the company will be focusing mainly on strengthening its sales and service functions in India till the fiscal 2014-15.
