The Volkswagen Group represented by Volkswagen India, Audi India and Skoda India has posted a growth of 21.6 percent in the period January to March 2012 with sales of 34,126 cars in comparison to 28,072 cars sold in the same period in 2011.
Citing the growth in the period, Mr. John Chacko Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President and Managing Director Volkswagen India stated the company expects to further strengthen its position in the Indian automobile industry.
Among the three brands under the Volkswagen group, Audi India the luxury carmaker achieved the highest growth of 40.8 percent selling 2,269 cars in comparison to 1,611 cars sold in the quarter in 2011. Close at its heels was Skoda India with a growth of 40 percent having sold 11,505 cars against 8,217 cars in the January-March 2011. Volkswagen India registered a growth of 11.6 percent selling 20,352 cars in January-March 2012 quarter compared to 18,244 cars in the same period in 2011.
