Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited (TKML) has asked the Karnataka Government to provide it the requisite clearance to invest Rs. 780 crore into its Bidadi plant near Bangalore. Currently, the company has two plants for manufacturing cars. It is planning to set up an engine plant at Bidadi.
Employing around 5,000 people, the company has invested around Rs. 5,000 crore. Along with the proposal of additional investment, TKML has also requested for additional 16 acres of land to implement its expansion plans for engine manufacturing and components for small cars in India.
According to the Karnataka Government Minister for Large and Medium Industries Mr. Murugesh R Nirani, the investment proposed by the company is being discussed and analyzed by the State High Level Clearance Committee. The Chief Minister heads the committee, which clears mega industrial investment projects.
TKML also plans to invest Rs. 898 crore to increase its production capacity to 3,10,000 units by 2013.
