Toyota Kirloskar Motor to expand production by investing Rs 900 crore

Toyota Kiroloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota is planning to invest an amount of Rs 900 crore to expand its manufacturing capacity by 1,00,000 cars at its two facilities in Bidadi near Bangalore.

At the first production plant where the company manufacturers the Innova MPV and the Fortuner SUV, the capacity would be increased by 10,000 units from 90,000 to 1,00,000 units, stated Mr. K Srikanth Senior Vice- President (External Affair, Corporate Governance, Legal and CSR) and Mr. Sailesh Shetty Vice-President (Sales).

They added that the second plant with the production capacity of 1,20,000 units annually will be up scaled to manufacture 2,10,000 units. This plant produces the Corolla Altis premium sedan, the Etios sedan, the Etios Liva hatchback and the New Camry luxury sedan.

The production at both the plants will be ramped up by March 2013 with a total investment of Rs 900 crore, stated Mr. Srikanth and Mr. Shetty.
