Toyota Kirloskar to launch new Camry on August 24, 2012

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacturer has announced that it will be introducing the new Camry premium luxury sedan in the Indian car market on August 24, 2012. The sedan will be assembled at the company’s facility in Bangalore and the components of the car model will be imported for the assembly, stated Mr. Sandeep Singh Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

The car was introduced in the Indian automobile market as a completely built unit (CBU) and was being imported from Japan. The car model is now assembled at the Bangalore facility instead of being imported as CBU to low operational costs and price of the car.

Commenting on the sales performance of the company, Mr. Singh stated that the company witnessed a 7 percent increase in sales in the month of July 2012. The company is targeting 1,70,000 unit sales in the fiscal 2012-13 as compared to 1,31,000 units sold in 2011-12.
