Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker Toyota has stopped the production of the Corolla Altis premium sedan in India. The move comes as the carmaker plans the launch of the new version of the premium sedan in India by mid-2014.
The Japanese automaker is expected to showcase the new version of the Corolla Altis sedan with added features at the upcoming Auto Expo in New Delhi in the month of February 2014. The new version has reportedly already been launched in the global auto markets.
According to the figures by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Toyota India sold a total of 2,972 units in the period April-December 2013. The sales numbers were down by 29.47 percent in comparison to the sales performance in the same period in 2012.
The existing Corolla Altis model has been selling in India since the year 2008 when the carmaker upgraded from the earlier version of the Corolla sedan.
