Indian automobile major Tata Motors has introduced its latest REVOTRON Series of petrol engines in India. The newly developed petrol engines will power the carmaker’s upcoming car models. The first engine from the series unveiled by the automaker is the Turbocharged Intercooled Multi-point Fuel Injected (MPFi) Petrol Engine, REVOTRON 1.2T.
The new REVOTRON Series engines have been developed and designed by the carmaker on the basis of extensive feedback from the car owners and auto experts along with study of driving habits and testing procedures in harsh climatic conditions in India and other global auto markets.
The automaker has been collaborating with the global engine consultant AVL (Austria) and other technology partners such as Bosch and Honeywell to develop the technology for the new engine series. The engine is designed as a lightweight and low friction powertrain to offer higher performance and better fuel economy.
Offering 85PS of power at 5000RPM and 140 Nm at 1750-3500 RPM, the engine is equipped with a High Boost Turbo-Charger. The engine also features advanced catalytic converter with reduced toxic emissions and Smart Electric Control Unit (ECU). The carmaker claims to have reduced the vibrations noise and harshness collectively known as NVH for a better and more refined output. The 8-hole fuel injector along with improved calibration has enabled better fuel efficiency, states the carmaker.
