Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota has sold a total of 9,160 units in the month of March 2014. The carmaker has witnessed a significant decline in sales in comparison to 21,143 units sold in March 2013.
The decline in sales figures follows the lockout by the carmaker at its production facilities in March 2014 which prohibited the workers from entering the premises of the facilities after the disagreement on the ongoing salary negotiations between the management and the workers.
Out of the total sales of 9,160 units, the automaker sold 8,206 units in the domestic market while 954 units were exported.
Commenting on the sales figures for the month, Mr. N Raja Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the carmaker resumed production in second half of March 2014 with the help of the non-unionized workforce consisting majorly of supervisors.
