The Skoda Yeti we all want

The Skoda Yeti made quite an impact in the Indian market and it was perhaps the first proper MPV to enter the Indian market and create a new segment all together. Fast forward from 2010 to 2014 and now the segment is bigger than ever and the MPV craze continues in India. The Skoda may have lost out to newer entrant, but after you see this latest concept from Skoda you may start to drool over the Yeti all over again. At this year’s GTI event at Worthersee, Skoda will be presented the Yeti Xtreme – a solid and sporty concept rally car based on the popular compact SUV. In creating the Yeti Xtreme, Skoda designers converted their successful compact SUV into a particularly sporty and dynamic rally design. The show car combines the power of an all-wheel drive SUV with strong design elements and equipment features of a racy rally car.

Skoda Yeti RearThe car is powered by a 1.8-litre 150bhp strong TSI engine and features a six-speed dual clutch DSG transmission. The maximum torque of 250Nm is achieved between 1,500 and 4,200 rpm and allows the Yeti Xtreme to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9 seconds, and its top speed is 192kmph. Other highlights include Octavia RS-sourced brakes, tinted windows, 17-inch alloys on chunky off-road tires and LED headlights. On the inside there are four individual Recaro seats with built-in four-point safety belts, carbon fiber door panels. This concept might not be out for sale yet, but it does give you an idea of what all you could do with your Yeti, if you owned one – apart from the new engine of course. The Yeti in India hasn’t received much updates, but some of these added features on the Yeti Xtreme could be a welcome for many.
