The future of motorcycle safety

When it comes to vehicle safety, no other issue is as concerning as motorcycle safety, for the simple fact that riders are not protected by hard frames and roll cages found in cars. For riders, they are more concerned with braking technologies, tyre grips and then of course riding gear, which is essentially the only thing between their bones and the tarmac. We have heard of certain technologies implemented in riding gars such as foaming helmets, stiffer riding boots, and then of course the more recent technologies of jackets fitted with airbags, and it seems that Ducati has picked up on this technology and I am very clever way has integrated this into one of their upcoming models. Ducati has announced the introduction of the Multistrada D-Air model, featuring a fully integrated, intelligent system of sensors wirelessly connected to Ducati Apparel airbag jackets by Dainese. Marking a ‘world’s first’ in the motorcycle industry and combining the innovative designs from two famous Italian brands, the new Ducati model takes a significant step forward in two-wheel safety.  This intelligent passive safety system uses sensors built into the Multistrada’s existing electronics to constantly understand the vehicle’s dynamic situation and deploying only when subjected to a genuine accident scenario. The Multistrada D-Air system completes the data analysis and airbag deployment inside both the rider and passenger jackets in just 45 milliseconds, considerably reducing the risk of injury upon impact. This seems like an interesting piece of technology, but it doesn’t come without a high cost, and it will not be affordable to everyone.
