Tata showcased the cheap eMO electric car at Detroit autoshow

Tata Technologies a part of the Indian business major Tata Group unveiled a cheap electric car ‘eMO’ with a proposed price tag of USD 20,000 (Rs. 10,00,000 approx.) at the Detroit Auto Expo. The car is capable of carrying four passengers and will challenge the more costly rivals in the market. The primary purpose of the vehicle was to demonstrate the possibility of building an attractively priced electric vehicle.

Tata Technologies is engaged in providing consultancy to automaker such as Ford and Chrysler and has utilized its experience in the developing and mature car markets in order to develop this prototype. According to Mr. Kevin Fisher Head Vehicle Development Team Tata Technologies, the company worked with a price target of USD 20,000 and incorporated the principles of frugal engineering while developing the ‘eMO’ electric car and came up with a four-seater vehicle that weighs about 900 kilograms and meets the existing crash standards.
