Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has posted a growth of 12 percent in its sales for the month of August 2012. The carmaker sold a total of 71,826 units in the month in comparison to 64,078 vehicles sold in the same month in 2011. The domestic sales of the company also rose by 13 percent at 67,453 units in August 2012 compared with 59,874 units sold in August 2011.
The cumulative sales of the company in the fiscal 2012-13 as of now stand at 3,34,125 in comparison to the 320,878 units sold in the same period in the 2011-12 fiscal, an increment of 4 percent.
The passenger car sales of the Indian carmaker in the month of August 2012 were reported to be 22,311 units, 33 percent higher than 16,829 sales posted in August 2011. The passenger sales were lead by the Indica range hatchback at 7,591 units, followed by the Tata Nano at 6,507 units and the Indigo range of sedans at 3,629 units. The utility vehicle segment including the car models Sumo, the Safari, the Aria and the Venture collectively sold 4,584 units.
The company’s exports grew by 4 percent from 4,204 units in August 2011 to 4,373 units in the month of August 2012.
