Tata Motors launches new ‘Twist’ variant of the Nano at Rs 2,36,000

Indian automobile major Tata Motors has announced the launch of a new variant of the Nano mini car. The new variant namely the Nano Twist brings electric assisted power steering (Epas) to the iconic mini car at a price tag of Rs 2,36,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new power steering enabled variant of the Nano is being seen as an attempt by the Indian carmaker to revive the falling sales of the small car in India. According to industry experts, the carmaker is in the process of repositioning the mini car as a ‘smart city car’.

The Nano car model was initially launched as ‘the cheapest car in the market’ but failed to bring in the volumes expected by the carmaker. The automaker is therefore adding the standard features to the car model to appeal to the car buyers in India.

Commenting about the new car variant of the Nano, Mr. Ankush Arora Senior Vice President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit (Commercial), Tata Motors stated that the automaker expects the new Nano Twist to contribute more than 50 percent of the total sales of the Nano car model. He added that currently, the existing upper end model already contributes more than 50 percent to the total Nano sales.
