Tata Motors eyes volume exports and global presence

Tata Motors, the Indian automobile manufacturer is considering expansion of its export operations and increase its presence in the global automobile market. The current export levels of the company stand at 50,000 annually.

The exports markets for the Indian automaker currently include Poland, Turkey, Spain and South Africa. Export operations for Australia are currently underway. According to Mr. Karl Slym British Managing Director Tata Motors, the current export levels are not enough referring to the automaker’s capability as a mass marketer and manufacturer.

Mr. Slym stated that the carmaker plans to develop its portfolio in a manner to increase volume sales enabling it to grow on a global scale. He added that less reliance on domestic sales and more emphasis on global sales will further offset the erratic sales and revenue conditions in the Indian auto industry.

The Indian automobile maker is currently in the process of revising its range of SUV car models with new architecture and powertrains along with modern technology and global styling. The automaker will be incorporating flexible platforms to cater to international markets.
