Tata Motors and NEDO’s new plant to trim down carbon dioxide generation

Tata Motors and Japan-based New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) jointly inaugurated an eco-friendly dual fuel-based power generation facility at Tata Motors’ Pune plant on June 8th, 2011. The aim of the project is to generate power through clean environment technology. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Central Government, the Government of Japan, NEDO and Tata Motors to cement the project.

Tata Motors and NEDO have worked on this project together for the past two years. The project has been made successful by running two 2.5 MW diesel power generator sets on natural gas and light diesel oil. These electric generators use natural gas as the chief fuel and diesel as the pilot fuel.

Tata Motors will trim down 3,770 tonnes of carbon dioxide produced each year by switching over from the existing liquefied fuel to clean burning gaseous fuels.
