Skoda India targets 50 percent growth in 2012

Skoda Auto India, the Czech automaker’s Indian subsidiary is aiming to maintain a 50 percent growth in its car sales in India in 2012-13. The company’s sales grew a by 50 percent in the fiscal year 2011-12 selling 30,000 units with the new Rapid sedan as the primary growth leader.

According to Mr. Kamal Basu Head Marketing Skoda Auto India, the company expects the Skoda Rapid sedan to account for about 50-55 percent of the total sales. In 2011-12, the Rapid contributed about 40-45 percent sales to the total sales since its launch in November 2011.

Currently, the company has a network of 104 dealerships across India and has sold a total of 1,46,269 units in the country since its entry in December 2011.
