Maruti Suzuki hikes Swit DZire diesel prices by up to Rs 12,000

Maruti Suzuki has raised prices on its Swift DZire diesel car models by Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 effective from May 1, 2012. The reason for the hike is stated by the company to be high input costs. According to a company official, the price hike will enable the company to mitigate the impact of the input cost pressure. The prices for the petrol versions of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire sedan remain unchanged.

The company has introduced a ‘shorter than 4 meters’ model of the Swift Dzire sedan in February 2012 in order to qualify for the lower excise duty of 10 percent for small cars. The car is available with both petrol and diesel options and is equipped with 1.2 litre petrol engine for the petrol version and 1.3 litre diesel engine for the diesel version.

Maruti Suzuki had earlier hiked prices in March 2012 in response to the excise duty hikes as part of the Union Budget 2012-13.
