Renault India, the Indian subsidiary of the French car manufacturer has posted a 40-fold increase in the car sales for the month of October 2012. The carmaker sold 6,790 units in the month in comparison to 173 units sold in the same month in 2011.
The growth in sales has been attributed to the introduction of new car models since October 2011 when the company had two car models in India, namely the Fluence premium sedan and the Koleos sports utility vehicle. The company now has a total of 5 car models in its Indian car portfolio with the introduction of the Pulse compact car, the Duster SUV and the Scala Sedan.
The sales of October 2012 were led by the Duster SUV with 5,406 units followed by Scala sedan with 737 units, the Pulse compact hatchback with 483 units, the Fluence sedan with 107 units and the Koleos selling 57 units.
Commenting about the growth in sales, Mr. Marc Nassif Managing Director Renault India stated that its growing dealer network in India has been a major contributor to the sales growth and the company’s reach to auto customer.
