Peugeot Citroen to start work on its plant in Sanand

According to a company official, Peugeot Citroen will start work on its plant in Sanand in the first week of November 2011. The company after its exit from the Indian pitch 10 years ago is back in action and had announced on September 1, 2011, its decision to set up its factory in Gujarat. The company will invest Rs. 4,000 crore to set up the factory.

The company officials recently met the Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and according to an official at the Chief Minster’s office, the stone laying ceremony has been scheduled for November 3, 2011, at the company’s 600 acre site in Sanand. Also as per the reports, the design of the manufacturing facility has been finalized and its officials are currently undergoing training in France.

Peugeot Citroen will roll out the B-plus, C and D class cars in India and its model 508 will be the company’s first launch in 2014. The company will make some modification to its C-class models to make it better suited for the Indian customer. Peugeot also has on card to eventually introduce its diesel and hybrid cars in India.
