Nissan launches small car Datsun GO in India

Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has launched the low cost brand Datsun in India with the roll out of the Datsun Go small car. The new car model has been launched with a price tag of Rs 3,12,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The carmaker expects to expand its presence in the small car market with the new car launch and is targeting the first time buyers in India.

The new car is equipped with a 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine which offers power of 67bhp and 106Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. As claimed by the Japanese carmaker, the new small car provides a mileage of 20 kilometers per liter.

The Datsun GO, which will be manufactured at Nissan’s Oragadam plant, will compete with the likes of the small car Eon by Hyundai India and the Alto K10 and Alto 800 by Maruti Suzuki.

Nissan India will follow up the Datsun GO launch with the launch of the Datsun GO+ and another upcoming car model by the year 2016.
