Nissan India to recall 22,188 units of the Micra and Sunny

Nissan India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has announced a voluntary recall for a total of 22,188 units in India that will include the Micra hatchback and the Sunny sedan.

The recall in India has been implemented in order to rectify a faulty braking system and is part of the carmaker’s global recall program. The cars to be recalled by the carmaker belong to the production period June 2012 to March 2013.

According to a Nissan spokesperson, the recall is being conducted across the globe including markets such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Caribbean and Middle East. The automaker will be replacing the master brake cylinder for the recalled cars at no replacement cost to the car owners.

The spokesperson further stated that due to the manufacturing error, the driver may experience longer brake pedal travel while operating the braking system under light braking force. Such an instance may increase the braking distance required to stop a moving vehicle.
