Nissan India posts a three-fold increase in March 2014 sales

Nissan India, the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker Nissan has posted more than three-fold increment in its sales for the month of March 2014. The carmaker sold a total of 7,019 units in the month of March 2014 in comparison to 2,125 units sold in March 2013.

The growth in the sales figures is attributable to the recent launch of the Datsun GO entry level small car by the carmaker. The Datsun GO which has been positioned by the carmaker as a low cost brand in India recorded sales of 2,072 units in March 2014.

Speaking about the sales performance of the carmaker, Mr. Ajay Raghuvanshi Vice-President Business Management Nissan Motor India stated that the benefit of the excise duty reduction was immediately transferred to the customers in order to lift consumer sentiments.

The carmaker has posted sales of 38,217 units in the fiscal 2013-14 in comparison to 36,975 units sold in the 2012-13 fiscal, a growth of 3.4 percent.
