Nissan Motor India Private Limited has recorded its highest monthly sales in India in the month of March 2012 selling 5,880 units. The sales for the month are also a 180 percent increase over the sales of 2,101 units in March 2011. The March 2012 sales broke the company’s earlier highest record of 5,371 units in the month of February 2012.
The company has been achieving more than 5,000 monthly sales consecutively since January 2012, March 2012 being the third and the highest selling month. In terms of annual sales, Nissan India sold 33,275 units in the fiscal 2011-12 as compared to 13,043 units in 2010-11.
The majority of the sales were accounted for by the Micra hatchback which sold 18,650 units in 2011-12. The Sunny sedan which was introduced in the Indian market in September 2011 followed by a diesel variant in January 2012 was also a major contributor to the company’s sales with 14,164 units.
